The Role: My client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor to join their vibrant Manchester based Building Surveying team to assist in scaling up their retrofit and ESG offering.
Ideally, the candidate will have a minimum of 3+ years’ experience, be self-motivated and confident in a client facing role - managing multiple projects and clients within the residential and education sectors.
Pre- and post-contract experience is required, as well as knowledge and experience of working with residential developers, local authorities, schools and universities. Some UK travel may be required as part of this role.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in the mentoring of colleagues, work with graduates and trainees, and contribute to their established APC training programme.
Key Responsibilities:
Overseeing the day-to-day progress of building projects to ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance with plans
Engaging positively with clients to understand their quality expectations and concerns, and addressing them effectively
Developing and executing strategies to ensure building quality meets standards and specifications
Establishing efficient processes and systems for quality control throughout project execution
Reviewing and surveying existing buildings to identify and address quality issues
Producing rental and capital value reports based on building assessments
Compiling and disseminating detailed reports on building quality and compliance
Collaborating with stakeholders to resolve quality-related issues and implement corrective actions
Conducting regular inspections to verify that structures are being built according to plan and regulations
Providing expert advice on building quality and compliance matters to clients and project teams
Attending and leading meetings to discuss quality-related concerns and progress
Requirements for the Building Surveyor:
Contracts administration
Project Management experience (up to £2m projects)
Experience in education/schools building projects, as well as residential projects and buildings
Qualified retrofit or co-ordinator
3+ years of relevant experience in building surveying with a focus on quality assurance
Proficient in verbal and written communication, including report writing
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring building quality
Ability to analyse and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Familiarity with building regulations and industry standards related to quality assurance
Experience in reviewing existing buildings and identifying quality issues
Capability to produce rental and capital value reports based on building assessments
Flexible and capable of adapting to changing project requirements
Background in conducting thorough inspections and audits to verify compliance
Proficiency in using surveying tools and equipment
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve quality-related issues effectively
