Senior Programme Manager - Central London (London Bridge)

Excitingly, they have plans to set up a development side of the business (land acquisitions etc) next year in order to keep everything in-house!

The Role: As Senior Programme Manager, your role is effectively to manage and support the three Senior Project Managers in the defence team – this is a brand-new position within the company.

You will be responsible for making sure the wider defence project management team are following processes that have been put into place to deal with the scale of growth that the sector is currently experiencing as well as ensuring that the right controls and systems are set up, maintained and continuously improved.

You will work with project specific PM’s to ensure projects are properly resourced, to drive consistency across the defence sector and to hold them to account for project delivery all in line with the cultures and values.

Given the sectors dynamic workload you will be required to lean in and support various project teams using your knowledge & experience, ensuring their successful delivery. You will have great exposure to the PM sector lead whom you will be working with on daily basis.

You will be assisting them in the development of the sector, refining current processes and setting up new ones as we continue to grow.

You will provide strong and effective leadership in managing relationships and delivering outputs to realise commercially successful outcomes, on time and to high quality standards.   

The role will predominantly be office based in their London HQ, with visits to the factory, site, consultant offices and client locations as required.

Purpose:

  •  To assure project delivery (time, cost, quality, safety, customer satisfaction) across a portfolio of defence projects

  • To establish, maintain and drive compliance with an effective defence project gateway and control process and delivery systems

  • To drive continuous improvement across the defence sector

 

Accountabilities:

  • Compliance of portfolio of projects with defence projects gateway processes

  • Effectiveness and relevance of defence sector gateway processes and delivery systems

  • Resourcing to meet project needs

 

Requirements for the Senior Programme Manager:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline/ or equivalent work experience

  • Member of APM/RICS/CIOB or equivalent professional organisation, or actively working towards membership

  • Excellent Communication skills

  • Extremely personable and a fantastic team player

  • Technical Experience of being a project manager through RIBA stage 4-6

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in delivery of design & build projects

  • Knowledge of NEC4 Contract law

  • Experience of or interest in development and maintenance of processes and systems

(Desired) Requirements for the Senior Programme Manager:

  • Technical knowledge & experience of RIBA stages 2-4 – preconstruction

  • Construction Contract Law Experience

  • Principal Contracting Experience Preferred

  • Experience and knowledge of more holistic construction areas, commercial, design, operations being key
