Principal Project Manager - Central London (London Bridge)

The Role: We are looking to speak with experienced Principal Project Managers to work within our clients London building consultancy team in response to a growing workload in the Education sector for a strategic local authority client.

You will need to be experienced in pre and post contract Project Management, Contract Administration and Employer’s Agent roles and will be capable of taking full ownership to manage allocated projects.

Experience in delivery of education projects (specifically primary and secondary schools) and experience of procurement through the Department for Education’s (DfE) Construction Framework is essential.

The successful candidate will report into the accountable Construction Director and will support in the growth of a strategically important client who have a large pipeline of future work. You will be expected to perform a leadership role within the team which will include training junior staff, quality management and becoming a key client point of contact.

The projects the successful candidate can expect to become involved in will generally be new build education projects, with values ranging from £10M to £35M.

Whilst education is their immediate focus, they do work across other sectors such as high-end residential, commercial offices and mixed-use. Therefore, you would have the opportunity to work across a variety of projects.

Flexible/remote working is actively encouraged across the company, you would be expected in the office 2-3 days a week.

Requirements for the Principal Project Manager:

  • Either BSc degree min 2:1 in relevant construction course OR minimum 5 years relevant construction project management experience

  • Have proven Project Management experience in the education sector, with DfE Framework experience, acting as CA/EA

  • Prepare, chair and minute project meetings for record and distribution

  • Produce suitable project cost reports, progress reports and ad hoc updates

  • Support the client and other consultants through practical guidance and advice

  • Support in setting up, managing and monitoring governance and decision-making forums

  • Effectively manage resource and outputs of multi-disciplined consultant teams to agreed timescales and quality

  • Be able to challenge technical aspects of construction design and be aware of relevant building standards

  • Produce project programmes, monitor progress of the same and interrogate construction programmes

  • Identify, mitigate and manage risk across all aspects of allocated projects
