Assistant Building Surveyor - Essex

The Company: A privately owned, specialist building consultancy, providing an end-to-end service to clients in the education sector, working exclusively with academies, schools, colleges and universities across the UK!

Whilst their primary focus is currently within education, the company excitingly has plans to branch out into the healthcare & residential sectors.

Since operating with just 8 staff during the pandemic, this client has been rapidly growing & now employs over 48 people across the business!

Their brand-new office is spread out over two units (with onsite parking). However, due to demand & expansion, the company is in discussions about re-locating to another new office!

 

The Role: You will be part of an expanding and diverse team of professionals, responsible for the procurement and delivery of a vast array of construction, mechanical and electrical related projects.

This includes (but not limited to): new build schemes, fire door renewals, cladding and window renewals, new heating and ventilation systems, new electrical distribution (power, general and emergency lighting), fire alarm renewals, laboratory refurbishments and drainage replacements.

Your work will predominately be within the Education Sector, undertaking typical project management, contract administration and employers agent functions/duties.

It is also beneficial for you to already be working towards your RICS, or at least looking to become chartered, as they will heavily support you through this!

Requirements for the Assistant Building Surveyor:

  • Degree qualified – within a construction related discipline

  • Working towards your RICS (or an active interest to start this)

  • Demonstrable experience working with a Surveying consultancy environment

  • Previous Surveying/PM experience within the Education sector (desirable)

  • Excellent time management

  • Understanding of the needs and demands of clients and will to exceed their expectations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – both written and verbal

  • Able to prioritise workload, planning ahead as required

  • Able to work individually or in a team

  • Strong IT skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook

  • Full UK driving licence
